Our Heritage And How We Got Our Name:

Flight Systems was started in 1968 as a manufacturer of aircraft and runway strobe lights using unique solid state controls, which we designed to time and fire the light pulses. This solid state control concept represented a new breakthrough in technology at the time, and we applied for and received patents and F.A.A. certification for our efforts. During this period, America was in the middle of many applications in the aerospace industry. We earned our reputation as a highly qualified supplier of these solid state relays, timers, and circuit breakers to control DC motors used in various spacecraft and launch vehicles. Flight Systems equipment has flown aboard Apollo's 8,9,11,15 and 16; and Skylab I and II. We also hold many U.S. and foreign patents on various DC control circuits.

Electric Vehicle Industry:

Concurrent with this aerospace business, Flight Systems began repairing Allis-Chalmers and General Electric lift truck controls in the late 1960's. By the early 1970's, we had decided to commit our efforts to solid state controls for lift trucks and other battery powered vehicles because we saw these electric trucks with solid state controls to be a significant factor in the future of the materials handling industry. We were right, and began to grow rapidly.

In 1996, the industrial products group within Flight Systems, was sold to the Brynavon Group and renamed Flight Systems Industrial Products (FSIP). Being acquired by the Brynavon Group allowed us to direct all of our focus and energies to industrial controls. Even through our business has changed from what is was in the beginning, we kept our company name because we are proud of our heritage and feel that our aerospace background is a definite asset in the increasingly complex and sophisticated solid state controls for material handling equipment.

In 1998, General Electric and Flight Systems Industrial Products formed an alliance named the "GE Electric Vehicle Control Servicenter" This alliance formed the largest and the most diverse remanufacture of electronic controls for the material handling industry in the United States, bringing together over 70 years of combined experience and technology under one roof.

Most of our industry's leading manufacturers have teamed up with the servicenter.  They include: Hyster, Yale, Clark, Nissan, Crown, JLG, Mitsubishi Caterpillar, Yamaha, Komatsu and Kalmar AC. All controls are remanufactured at or above original specifications. We also upgrade controls to the latest revisions (if applicable) issued to ensure safe and efficent, operation.

The Many Changes:

Over the past few years, FSIP has continued to grow and expand. We broadened our Market Segments into all types of electric vehicle controls including the Mobility and Golf Club Markets.

In 2002, we updated our classic Forklift logo with a new 'state of the art' logo which encompasses the entire diverse battery powered world.

In 2003, FSIP relocated into our current facility, in Carlisle Pennsylvania, the Northeast hub of transportation 42,00 Sq Ft facility (25,00 sq ft Manufacturing and 10,000 sq ft Warehousing)

Recent Events:

During the summer of 2005, FSIP went through the demanding task of becoming ISO 9001-2000 certified.

In October 2005, Curtis Instruments, Inc. established Flight Systems Industrial Products as a Curtis Certified Servicenter, authorized to remanufacture and repair out-of-warranty Curtis controllers. This alliance ensures fast responsiveness, great efficiency and continued high-quality service to Curtis customers.

FSIP is completely staffed with Management, Sales & Marketing, Administrative, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Technical personnel, over 90 employees strong.

More than 45,000 units remanufactured annually, offering over 2,500 part numbers.
