Getting ZM (-11) Fault Codes?

  • Purpose: To supply service personnel on how to correct a (–11) fault code that is displayed when a remanufactured General Electric EV100 ZM control card is installed, thus reducing warranty claims.

  • Reason: The ZM (IC3645LXCD1ZM) control card can be installed in two different systems. A system that uses a feature called Auto-Plugging and a system that doesn’t use this feature. An internal shorting jumper needs to match the system in order for the remanufactured card to work. When the internal shorting jumper and the system do not match, a (-11) fault code will be displayed on the dash display or General Electric LX handset.

  • Information: (-11) fault codes are displayed as a caution to the user about an improper start up sequence. This happens when TB2 (accelerator start switch input) exceeds 60% battery volts before or at the same time the key switch is closed (TB4).
  • Procedure: This procedure should be used when correcting a (-11) fault code problem. Disconnect the battery from the truck and discharge the SCR panel capacitor. Remove the control card from the SCR panel. Remove the four small screws at the terminal board and slide the control card out of the plastic housing. Locate the shorting jumper identified as JP1 around the eight transistors by the terminal board. Move the shorting jumper to the pins not used on JP1. For example, if the shorting jumper is at JP1 pins 2 and 3, move the shorting jumper to JP1 pins 1 and 2 and vice versa. Slide the control card back into the plastic housing and connect the card to the SCR panel. Reconnect the battery and try to run the system. The (-11) fault code should go away.
